Labor Day Weekend....

Photobucket

We decided to spend part of our Labor Day weekend out at Palm Springs with some good friends. We left early Saturday morning and met our friends Kevin and Jamie, and their two kids out at the Cabazon Outlets. It was so good to see them, since it had been quite some time since we had all gotten together. Their daughter Natalie is 3 months older than Dakota, and Caleb is 9 months old now. They're such sweet kids, and Dakota adores Natalie. It's nice having an older girl for Dakota to play with, especially since Dakota is drawn to slightly older kids. I think she likes the challenge of having to keep up with someone that is a little faster and a little wiser. I've noticed that she loves mimicking older kids, so I welcome the things she can learn from them.

Anyway, after we shopped around, we headed to our hotel and promptly jumped into our bathing suits and headed for the pool. It was quite hot, so a dip in the pool was refreshing! Dakota had a great time in the pool, as always, and so did Natalie and Caleb. The girls were so silly with each other and even tried holding hands to jump into the pool together. They couldn't quite coordinate the "together" part, but it was cute to watch anyways.

After we swam around for a bit, we went back to our rooms for a little snooze before heading out to dinner. After a good two hour nap, we drove out to The River and had dinner at Babes, which was incredibly yummy! Unfortunately, mommy had a brain fart and requested a table for six, completely forgetting about poor K-man!! DOH! That's okay though, it just meant I got to hold him for awhile. He's such a cutie, and totally chill. I mean, the kid never ever cries!

So after dinner, we headed back to the hotel and retired for the night. The next morning we woke up and went to the hotel's buffet for breakfast, which was pretty good. Of course, we couldn't pass up another opportunity to jump into the pool before heading back home, so we geared up and hung out by the pool for another few hours. The girls were hysterical to watch. They were fascinated with these cups they had by the pool, and insisted on having one of us fill it up with pool water so they could fling water e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e-!-! I can't even describe the pure joy these two got from doing this. Just look at the pictures below, and I'm sure you'll see what I mean when you look at Natalie's expressions. Silly girl!

OMG, these pictures are the best! Natalie's expressions are priceless. LOVE THEM!

We had such a fun time in Palm Springs!! Thank you Kevin and Jamie for inviting us along. We can't wait to do it again. Maybe Big Bear in the fall! Oh, and Dakota thanks Natalie for being her BFF for the weekend, and Caleb for the kisses. She's smitten over that boy!!!
