Hawaii, Day 6...

Photobucket

Day six was another beautiful day in paradise!! We were excited to hang out at the pool for a good chunk of the day, and then head to Ka'anapali a little later in the afternoon for a luau.

After our exciting breakfast of cereal and yogurt, we headed to the pool and found a great shady spot by the baby beach. I just had this feeling that Dakota would make a breakthrough with the whole sand thing, so I figured we should set up camp close to it! We were also close to the tiny little kiddie pool, which Dakota thought was the neatest thing. It was perfect for us because we could just stand out on the deck and watch her. The fountain made it a hit!

I swear her face makes her look 10. No more baby face!

Just as I suspected, Dakota really warmed up to the baby beach!! She found some other kids toys, which their parents were so nice to let her play with, and soon forgot about the grainy sand beneathe her feet. And yet, she wasn't even barefoot. I still can't believed she hated sand even with shoes on. Oh well, it was just nice to see her enjoying herself!!

So, once again, we frolicked in the pools and Dakota had a fun time just floating around. She actually made a friend that she just adored. She was 10 years old and whatever she did, Dakota did. I tell ya, Dakota just LOVES older girls.

It was eventually time to head to Ka'napali Beach for the luau. We actually left a little early so that I could shop around Whaler's Village. I found a great surf shop called Honulua Co Wahine, which is basically like the stores, PacSun and Roxy. I bought a couple shirts and a cute dress. We also bought a few cute things for Dakota.

Around 5 o'clock, we headed over to the Royal Lahaina Resort so we could check in. Grandpa upgraded us so that we could go in a little early and enjoy drinks, as well as reserve prime seating for the show. It was a great move on Grandpa's part because not only did we get to enjoy free drinks, but we also got front row seats. It was so cute to see a highchair right there smack dab in the front of the stage.

Being silly as we wait to be seated...

After we took a few sunset pictures, we took our seats and waited for the green light to go load up a plate with lots of food. But before they opened the flood gates, they called up all the little "keikis" to the stage, so they could learn the hula dance. Of course, Dakota had no idea what was going on, so I sorta helped her out. She's a typical white girl with two left feet, because as soon as I started helping her, she stiffened up and made these robotic moves. LOL

We finally got the okay to hit the buffet! There was SO much food to choose from and all of it was so good. I really didn't expect the food to be that good, but it was. And Dakota actually ate some chicken!! Can you believe it?!

Not too long after everyone ate, they dimmed the lights and started the show. Dakota was a little frightened when they turned off the lights and started beating on the drums and playing the music. I let her sit in my lap so she could feel secure and still be able to see everything. She eventually moved onto Daddy, since he had a much better seat! The show lasted just under an hour and I swear that girl was mesmerized on all that took place in front of her. I was so happy that she liked it, because it was the one excursion that I thought/hoped she would get the biggest kick out of.

After the show, we headed back to our hotel, which was about a 45 minute drive. Dakota passed out 5 minutes into it. When we got her up to the room, we made her milk, but she had about 2 sips of it before doing this...

She was SOOO tired after a long day...
