As you can see, I was a little bored tonight, so I thought I would do this little survey about one of the happiest times in my life.
- What was your reaction when you found out you were pregnant? Shocked, followed by extreme excitement!
- Was abortion an option for you? No way!!
- How old were you? 28
- How did you find out you were pregnant? Home pregnancy test, followed by a trip to the doctor!
- Who did you tell first? Kevin
- Did you want to find out the sex? Absolutely!! We couldn't wait to find out.
- What was your child's sex? Girl
- Did you wish were you were having the opposite sex of what you were getting? Nope, I just wanted a healthy baby!!
- What was the due date? Feb 11, 2008
- Did you have morning sickness? I had a case of the queasies for about 2 weeks, but that's it. I lucked out!
- What did you crave? I never really craved anything. Just an aversion to chicken for about 2 months.
- Who/What irritated you the most? Co-workers asking me if I was really pregnant because I took forever to show. I can't tell you how much this irritated me because I always wanted a belly to show off, which I finally got at like 36 weeks =(
- What was your favorite part about being pregnant? Definitely feeling Dakota move, and the fact that those 40 weeks never kicked my butt! I was blessed with a very easy pregnancy!
- How many pounds did you gain throughout your pregnancy? 16 lbs
- Did you have a baby shower? Yes, I had two. My mother-in-law threw my baby shower for family and friends, and my co-workers threw me another one at work.
- Was it a surprise or did you know? I knew about the first one, the work one was a surprise!
- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Nope, it was smooth sailing until I was 39 weeks. A week before Dakota's birth, I didn't feel her move for an entire day and started to stress out after orange juice and candy didn't get her to budge. So off I went to L&D only to find out that Dakota had put herself in a position where she couldn't move. They also found that she had an erratic heartbeat, but it stabilized after a few hours and an ultrasound discovered she was pushing up against the umbilical cord. I was SO freaked out!
- How did you know you were in labor? My contractions came on all of a sudden, and were 3-4 minutes apart for about an hour.
- Where did you give birth? Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA
- Who drove you to the hospital? Kevin. Unfortunately, CHP closed down the freeway for 20 minutes to clear an accident, while we sat there wondering if Dakota would be born in the car. HAHA
- What happened once you arrived? They monitored me and the baby, and asked if I wanted an epidural after seeing how uncomfortable I was. That was a definite YES! I was only 3 cm, but they decided to break my water an hour after I got the epidural. Two hours later, I was at 10cm!!
- How many hours were you in labor? 4 hours!
- Who watched you give birth? Kevin and my mom
- Was it natural or c-section? Natural
- Did you take medicine to ease the pain? I had an epidural, which wore off after 3 hours. Of course, at that point I was 10 cm and anesthesiologist was in surgery. FABULOUS!! Unfortunately, I felt everything, which is probably why I got her out in 8 minutes!
- How much did your child weigh? 6 lbs 6 oz
- When was your child actually born? Feb 13, 2008 at 4:40 am...2 days late
- What did you name him/her? Dakota Dean
- Is he/she named after anyone? We chose Dakota because we like the name and the actress. Dean is after my dad, which was also my Grandma's middle name and my Great-Grandma's first name.
- Did he/she have any complications? Nope, she was healthy as can be and we were free to go home the very next day!
- How old is your first born today? 21 months
